reality check #1001
these couple of days
ive come to realise once again
the truth about life - that this pretty world that we live in
is not as pretty as its painted out to be
lesson #1
friendships can't get you a jobokay, yes its probably a controversial issue
and one can argue that if you've the right connections
know the right people blah blah blah
you can get a job with the snap of a finger
however, we all realise that in most cases
see, we're generalising again.
it is not the truth
it is a meritocratic world to a certain extent
most of the time, if youve got the brains
and you put in just enough effort you get the job
so in a way, its not very just is it
cos if you know just what to do
you can get as far as you want to go
and due to the realness of the issue - that friends are not the only important thing in life
that feeding yourself and your family is more important
that financial stability is the key
so relationships start to fade away into shadow
and the best friend who held your hand
just in the blink of an eye became your next competitor
and much as we cling onto the relationships
most of the time unwilling to face the harsh truth
it is true, that you gotta let all go and be alone
and no matter how great a friend you may be
or how popular you are
its not going to get you anywhere unless you get the qualifications
so in short
relationships are only a bonus, a plus
and without the basics, nothing else would matter
just like the cca issue - that ccas are no longer compulsory
BUT if you get a relatively decent grade
having a fantastic cca record will just give you the upperhand
so thats about it.
all the relationships we've worked so hard to built
through all these years of our lives
boils down to being plus points
that are pretty optional
lesson #2
equality is far beyond the horizonthat much as we constantly fight for male-female equality
its never going to be achieved in real life
its something that is so deeply innate
right from the point that
god made MAN, not WOMAN
that it cant possibly be erased
it was slightly upsetting to once again come to terms with the fact
that up till modern society
with all the modern men and women
who are openminded and free
we still are unable to achieve somewhat sexual equality
im not asking for having equal pays, equal jobs
im just hoping to see that one day
man will see females as their equal
not necessarily in monetary value or terms
but rather in the emotional and human rights way.
that we generally may not be as strong or logical
or not as able to plot out complex strategies
but in many other ways, women have abilities than men lack
abilities that are often understated and forgotten
due to the "naturalness" of it all
which makes them just as equal as an overall being
the only hope, is that in a world where there is no longer a need
for the superpower strengths to hunt for food
we can someday acheive some sort of equality
because with the aid of technology, women can do as well as men.
lesson #3
life is not a poster on the wallno matter how every motivational poster
comes along with pretty pictures
and inspiring words
fairytales are stories spun around idealistic thoughts
to keep the children believing that there is always hope
and to delay the pain when a child comes to realise the truth about life
that disney was just an evil plot in life
to let us all sink into pits of delusion
and when youre painfully yanked out of the pool
thats when you learn to face the stinging cold wind
its good to have hope
and to believe that if you have faith anything is possible
its optimtistic and keeps us all going strong
when the world just crumbles
but one day we all forgot to mention conveninetly
is that much as miracles do happen
they are really miracles
cos they really dont happen often
alrighht
done with depressing nonsense
the older you get the more shit you understand
no wonder your hair starts to gray
thats why being grown up isnt half as fun as growing up
but dont worry, im still holding on to the tiny threads of hope (:
